Animal Humane Society Walk for Animals
The Minnesota RollerGirls home teams will be taking their battle off the track and to the streets as we fight to be one of the biggest fundraisers for this year's Animal Humane Society Walk for Animals taking place on May 3. Contribute to your favorite team by going to our fundraising page and putting your team's name in the comments when you make your donation. We're a competetive bunch, so you know we'll be keeping track of who's in the lead!

Cheerful Givers toy donation challenge
Cheerful Givers is a unique nonprofit organization that provides toy-filled birthday gift bags for children in Minnesota who are living in poverty on their birthday. The Minnesota RollerGirls will be battling the Minnesota Thunder to see who can collect the most donations during a special event at the Mall of America Rotunda on Sunday, April 20. Some of the special events taking place during this challenge include: BT of Cities 97 will be Master of Ceremonies, entertainment by singer/guitarist Jeff James, Ragnar, the Minnesota Vikings mascot will be in attendance, and there will be a coloring contest, face painting, and fun games and prizes for the kids.

Get yer 2007-2008 season trading cards!

New home season, new rookies, new trading cards. We have a whole new set of team trading cards available, but get yours fast! These babies sell out in record time! Each card features a lovely photo of each skating phenom and some getting-to-know-you tidbits about her likes and dislikes. Each team pack costs a measly $5 and includes a smattering of refs.

Thanks for making Kids Derby Clinic a huge success!

We'd like to extend a very heart-felt thank you to all the parents and kids who joined us for our first-ever Kids Derby Clinic. We all had such a wonderful time with kids and adults alike and were thoroughly impressed by the pace at which the kids learned and the enthusiasm shown by all. We hope to be able to hold another clinic in the future and we can only hope it'll be as much fun as the first one!

Rockits Mortar Dollhouse as Belts and Bombshells Brawl

The hard-hitting, brawltastic chaos of seasons past returned with a vengeance as the teams got the measure of their opponents in the run-up to the season championship. In the teaser of the April bout for third place, the Atomic Bombshells returned from early setbacks to sneak past the Garda Belts in an astonishing (and often confusing) bout, 37-29. Meantime, the Rockits shattered the Dagger Doll defense and held the Dolls back to a mere four points in the second half, soundly defeating them 56-21.

NOW RECRUITING SKATERS


The Minnesota RollerGirls are looking for new skaters to add to our ranks for the 2008-2009 season. The only requirements are that you are over 21 years of age and have your own primary health insurance.

ASPIRING ROLLERGIRLS: Find out more information, hear about training opportunities, and start meeting other skaters. Tryouts will take place in late June or early July. Get signed up and find out more info by sending an email to Honeydew Felon at [email protected].

You may have noticed a special piece of paper in your program at the bout on March 22 ... well, it'll be there again on April 12 and that means you have another chance to vote for four special fan awards for this year's Wheelie Awards. Please help us out and don't vote multiple times ... human eyes review these and we just want it to be as fair as possible!
